This course is for those who wants to experience Japanese pop culture. You will watch a show by "Takarazuka Revue", an all-woman musical in Takarazuka. You can also visit the birthplace of Osamu Tezuka, Japanese famous comic artist. In Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum, you can see how Japanese animation has begun. On the second day, enjoy hot bath in Kinosaki Onsen. There are 7 different bath houses in Kinosaki Onsen, why not try all of them!

Former Foreign Settlement

Former Foreign Settlement in Kobe is where foreigners resided when Kobe Port opened in 1868. There are many Western-style buildings remained here that are constructed out of brick and stone. Currently this place is known as influential fashion district in Kobe. There are many well-known brand shops, clothing stores, and sweets shops. Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institute

Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institute (DRI) is a facility that exhibits the experiences in Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake and vital disaster-prevention lessons to pass on to future generations. The materials related to earthquakes and disaster prevention are displayed in the West Building. In the theater, you can experience the fearsome destructive power of earthquakes through audio and video. There are also dioramas recreating the appearance of Kobe right after the earthquake. An English audio guide is available for overseas visitors.

Nada Gogo is dotted with famous Japanese Sake breweries. You can also enjoy Sake breweries townscape here. There are museums about Sake brewing too in the area. You can see the process of Sake brewing and the display of material used for Sake making, as well as Sake tasting.

Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum

Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum is the memorial hall of Osamu Tezuka, a famous Japanese comic artist. The museum is located in Takarazuka city where Osamu Tezuka was born. Original prints, goods of famous characters such as of Astro Boy are on display. There is also a booth where visitors can make their own animation. In library you can read Tezuka’s manga translated into foreign languages.

Takarazuka Grand Theater

Takarazuka Grand Theater showcases only one theater troupe; The all-female musical Takarazuka Revue. Women play both male and female parts in this legendary revue, which boasts more than 100 years of history. Takarazuka Revue consists of five troupes; Flower Troupe, Moon Troupe, Snow Troupe, Star Troupe and Cosmos Troupe and they perform in turns. Enjoy the elegant musicals by Takarazuka Revue!

Accommodations Takarazuka Onsen

Takarazuka Onsen is located only 30 minutes by train from Kobe or Osaka. The onsen is said to have existed since 700 years ago. There is also a local legend that says 'bathing in the hot springs can heal the sickness'. Takarazuka is also home to Takarazuka Revue. There are many fancy restaurants and sweets shops in the area too.

Genbudo Cave Park

Genbudo Cave Park is one of the most important site in San'in Kaigan Geopark. It is constructed in a series of caves made approximately 1.6 million years ago by volcanic activity. Valley of rock which was made when lava is cooled and hardened is very beautiful. There are Seiryudo, Byakkodo, North Suzakudo, and South Suzakudo in the site. Genbudo Cave Park is registered as Natural Monument by Japanese Goverment.

Hyogo Park of the Oriental White Stork

Hyogo Park of the Oriental White Stork have been working to protect and breed 'Kounotori', Oriental White Stork. Oriental White Stork symbolizes Hyogo Prefecture. Toyooka City where the park is located, was the last habitat of storks in Japan. The park has a cage without roof, where you can see storks up close. Also in the park and the neighboorhood, you can see storks released in the wild.

(Lunch) Kinosaki Hot Spring walk

Kinosaki Onsen is said to be discovered by an 'Kounotori', Oriental stork around 1400 years ago. It is a beautiful place with the willow trees planted on the banks of Otanigawa River. The traditional Japanese hot spring town is remained here, such as Japanese Ryokan made of wood. There are renowend 7 public baths in Kinosaki Onsen, that are more popular than baths in Ryokans. Enjoy visiting 7 baths wearing a Yukata (light cotton summer kimono).

Toyooka Kaban Street

Toyooka City is well known as bag producing district in Japan. There are many bag producers in the town. In Kaban Street in the shopping arcade in Toyooka City, Toyooka bags are displayed in the shop windows. There are also bag specialty stores, where you can purchase good quality bags. There are even shops where you can get custom made bags.
