Tajima Area faces Sea of Japan, and it is dotted with many mountains and waterfalls including magnificent San'in Kaigan Geopark, a member of World Geopark Network, and Mt. Hyounosen, the highest mountain in Hyogo. It snows heavily in the winter and there are some best ski resorts in western Japan. Also there are renowend Onsen resorts, such as Kinosaki Onsen, popular with 7 public outdoor baths, and Yumura Onsen, famous for hot water of 98℃ gushes from the springs. In addition, Tajima Area is famous for Zuwai Crab (snow crab caught in Sea of Japan) and Tajima Beef, origin of Kobe Beef.

Hyogo Park of the Oriental White Stork

Hyogo Park of the Oriental White Stork have been working to protect and breed 'Kounotori' Oriental white stork. Toyooka City where the park is located, was the last habitat of storks in Japan. The park has a cage without roof, where you can see storks up close. Also in the park and the neighboorhood, you can see storks released in the wild.

Takeda Castle Ruins

Takeda Castle Ruins in Asago City is one of the most famous Yamashiro (mountain castle), built on top of the mountain of an elevation of 353 meters. Depending on the season, it looks like the castle is floating on the clouds, and often called 'Castle in the Sky'. Especially on sunny early mornings in autumn to winter, morning fog tends to occur and Takeda Castle Ruins is wrapped in a sea of clouds. It's a breathtaking view and worth of the name of 'Castle in the Sky'.

San'in Kaigan Geopark

San'in Kaigan Geopark which spreads through Kyoto, Hyogo, and Tottori, is a member of Global Geopark Network. There exists various topography and geological features from the Sea of Japan formation to the present day, where you can see the life, culture and history of residing living creature and people. You can observe the rare topography, geological feature inheritance including the ria shore and cave entrance.
