Founded by Prince Shotoku (574–627 AD), Nakayamadera Temple is an immense historical temple. The Eleven-faced Kannon Bosatsu is worshipped here and is believed to bless expecting mothers with easy delivery. In Japanese tradition, pregnant women are given a gift of a belly band in their fifth month of pregnancy as a talisman for trouble-free birthing. To get the sacred belly band for easy delivery, many peole visit Nakayamadera Temple from all over the country.
