Tasshin-ji Temple is said to be one of the oldest temples in the Tamba area. This temple is home to a collection of 80 statues of Buddha, created between the 9th and 13th centuries. 12 statues among those are designated as Important National Cultural Properties. Because of the large number of Buddha statues, Tasshin-ji Temple is known as "Shoso-in in Tamba", after the treasure house of Todai-ji Temple in Nara. This is also a famous place for autmn colored leaves and dodan-tsutsuji (Enkianthus perulatus).
